The Holy Bible as we have it (the traditional Protestant canon) was written by over 40 different people over a period of approximately 1500 years. The authors were from all walks of life. It comprises many different genres contained within four main categories of writing. Those categories are history, poetry, prophecy, essays and letters.
All of these writings contain the Voice of God, the Word of God, and specific to this note, the Language of God. God’s language is expressed according to His designs and intentions. In my opinion the nature of the language of God is the grandest (if I’m allowed to venture such a conclusion). This Language is the height of expressing the Eternal, Incorruptible, Imperishable, and Immortal. It is transcendent, majestic, other-worldly, supernatural, and Holy Spirit directional. It cannot be grasped in its fullness by mere academia. In can only be truly understood by those who have the Holy Spirit of God, who are God’s sons and daughters. It is God’s Spirit Who instructs, enlightens, and gives the complete understanding of the scriptures of God. He also gives the authority and might to believe what is written.
I will use and focus on the term Immortal when discussing this language of God. After all, the declaration of the Apostle John has been fulfilled. John stated, “We know that when He appears, we will be like Him, because we will see Him just as He is.” Paul stated, “So also it is written: ‘The first man, Adam, became a living person.’ The last Adam, a life-giving spirit.” and “Now to the King of the ages, Immortal, Invisible, the only God, be honor and glory to the ages of the ages. Amen” and “For this perishable must put on the imperishable, and this mortal must put on immortality. But when this perishable puts on the imperishable, and this mortal puts on immortality, then will come about the saying that is written: ‘Death has been swallowed up in victory’”. To put it on is to be fully equipped with the life of God. It is to hear and obey God in His language and direction.
When people do not understand or submit to God they misunderstand and deviate from the message that the language of God communicates. People will never comprehend God’s Word when they doubt and/or gainsay His language.
Two classic examples of misunderstanding God’s language are seen in how mere intelligence (whether ignorant or defiant, common or professional) handles the narration of the creation week and the prophecy of Jesus in the book that He authored, The Revelation of Jesus Christ. God spoke about these concrete realities in Immortal language. Men and women miss the mark when they try to force another system of interpretation upon the language of these passages. If anything, the creation narrative is Immortal language restrained while The Revelation of Jesus is Immortal language fully winged.
It is our place to hear Jesus speak as He speaks and not as we prefer for Him to speak. It is also our place to obey the Immortal words of God in Jesus. This is the grand life we now possess, one filled with Eternal, Incorruptible, Imperishable, and Immortal Life, Beauty, and Truth!
The language of God is superlative, transcendent, other-worldly, sublime, miraculous, kaleidoscopic, non-mortal, non-mundane, heavenly, winged, abundant, and repetitive!
Hallelujah! - Glory to God in the highest! - God is ALL in all! – Amen!
