On this website you will read the words essay and note spread throughout. This is my way of making a distinction in the material being covered. Generally, it is not to say that the word note carries a kind of modern devaluation in its meaning. Rather, when I use note I am usually covering subjects in a shorter writing. On the other hand, essay is used when the writing is longer and more detailed.
Using notes in the ancient world was part of very important communication and documentation. It was a key component in writing. I use note in this way and not in the “jot in down” way of the modern world.
In summary, while both words are important and carry significant weight in my writing, note is used for shorter writing and essay covers longer and more detailed writing.
