More precisely, it’s been about 1,968 years since Paul wrote to the Corinthian believers telling them that the glory that they manifested was greater, more radiant, more real than the glory that shone on Moses’ face when he came down from the mountain of God after being in His presence.
The people of Israel were freighted by the glowing face of Moses after he conversed with Jahveh upon His mountain. They asked Moses to cover his face with a veil so that they would not have to abide that reality. Paul said that the glory that was shining through Moses’ face represented the glory of the administration of condemnation and that it was fading away. He went on the say that the then present glory of the Corinthians was greater and growing, reflecting the very image of Jesus Christ, the Spirit. He declared that it was the real glory which remained. It was the abiding glory. Later in the same letter he said that “God, who said, ‘Light shall shine out of darkness,’ is the One who has shone in our hearts to give the Light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Christ.” He was obviously writing to the same first century Corinthians believers telling them of their current condition. He was also obviously using spiritual language – unless interpreters maintain that the Corinthians’ faces were physically shining like Moses’ was. Away with such crass thinking! Hear the words of Jesus through His apostle!
This language of Paul is of the down-payment time, when the Spirit was given as a down-payment and a pledge from God that He would follow-up by bestowing the full inheritance, the remainder of the gift of life.
The point that I am making is that those properly informed and focused futurists of the early to mid-first century possessed and experienced the very same eternal and immortal reality that is the focus of this website; the present reality of the glory of the lives of all present day believers. As was the case then, so is it now. This difference is in the degree of our experience. What was given as down-payment in the middle of the first century was given as full payment in the last decades of that same century! What you do with your gift is altogether conditioned on your faith, relationship, and obedience to Jesus.
The Corinthians understood then. Why do you not understand now?
It’s only dullness of vision propagated by the churches that stands in your way.
Shine glorious ones, shine!
